The farmer proposed to build an abattoir and associated feedlot to diversify the use of land on his property and receive another source of income apart from the existing cropping enterprise.
NatureStamp was contracted to perform an EIA application, in the form of a Basic Assessment Report (BAR).
The key concerns pertaining to this application were impacts on water resources, biodiversity, noise/visual impacts and odour/fly nuisance to neighbours. Mitigation measures to minimise these impacts included positioning of site more than 800m from edge of any watercourse, avoiding disturbance of nesting sites, rescue/relocation of conservation significant plants and placement of abattoir and feedlot more than 1km from the nearest neighbour.
Environmental Authorization was granted in April 2017 and construction will be commencing soon.
